A practical hands-on 34-week programme created in close consultation with leading industry experts and practitioners that will help you level up your expertise to surface untapped insight and create new value, more efficiency and better outcomes. You will:

The Postgraduate Certificate in Connected Environments is for professionals who want to create connected technology solutions to deliver positive outcomes – for business, society and our environment. Ideally suited but not limited to professions in:
This programme is for you if you:

- Want to do things smarter and more efficiently to continuously deliver better experiences and outcomes for all your stakeholders

- Recognise the potential for people to engage in creativity and true improvement by allowing technology to handle information exchange and production processes
The Postgraduate Certificate in Connected Environments will develop your skills to create strategic and sustainable smart solutions for your workplace, your community or a wider industry that you’re passionate about enhancing for better outcomes.
This programme is available to study part-time only and is delivered as a Blended Learning model with weekly live-online class sessions and six full-day workshops over the course of the programme. See the Key Dates section below for more detail.
A total time commitment of 16 hours per week comprising:
- 2 hour weekly live-online sessions (except for weeks with full-day workshop)
- 14 hours of applied hands-on self-directed learning plus preparation and collaboration work
The six full-day face-to-face workshops will be held on-site at Tech Futures Lab, 99 Khyber Pass Road, Grafton, Auckland.

The full tuition fee for the Postgraduate Certificate in Connected Environments programme is:
- $5,980* for domestic students.
- $16,599* for international students
*Prices stated are in NZD and inclusive of 15% GST (goods and services tax).
NZ Productivity Scholarship
The August 2021 intake for this programme is covered by a full fees scholarship for domestic students. That means 100% of tuition fees are covered for all eligible enrolments to the programme for this August intake. Places are limited to 40 students and scholarships will be granted on a first come first served basis to all eligible completed applications.

With the current Covid-19 travel restrictions in place at the New Zealand border, this postgraduate certificate programme is only available to study as an international student if you are already in New Zealand. As the New Zealand government reviews and revises travel restrictions, it may be possible to apply for a Student Visa and travel to New Zealand to study this programme with us in the future.

We value industry and real-world experience as much as an academic record. You don’t need specific technical ability but you must demonstrate a willingness to learn.
Places are offered in order of enrolment. The programme is available to candidates who qualify as domestic students (NZ and Australian citizens and permanent residents) and international students who are currently residing in New Zealand. Please see the International Students page for specific information.
You’ll need one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification (or higher) AND a minimum of two years’ work experience in a field impacted by the digital economy.
- Have at least four years of professional experience in a relevant industry or community demonstrating equivalence or higher to the qualification stated above.
To make sure you’ll gain what you want out of this programme, you’ll need to provide a Statement of Intent as part of the enrolment process. You can do this by letter or video.
English Language Requirements
If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence of English language competence. This might be a formal test, academic qualification from an English speaking country or professional achievements in English.
