Maheshi Wadasinghe

Postgraduate Programme Lead

Maheshi is driven by a passion to help others succeed. A self-confessed life-long learner, Maheshi is well qualified with a Master’s degree in Marine Conservation and also Bioscience Enterprise.

Maheshi’s superpower is being ‘a bridger’ – she loves helping others get to where they want to go and is humbled by the opportunity to share in the joy of being a part of the journey.

In today’s changing world, Maheshi believes the most important step people can take is to embrace life long learning - to follow your curiosity and keep an open mind to learning new things. She’s particularly passionate about developing learning experiences and journeys that equip learners with the knowledge, skills and tools to strengthen their innovation capacity.

Over the years and between marriage and starting a family, she’s studied and worked in both New Zealand and Australia. With a particular love for nature conservation, Maheshi admits she continues to seek ways to do good in the world and aspires to be involved in social enterprise.

If there was anyone Maheshi could meet from history, it’d be Wangari Maathai, a social, political and environmental activist and academic from Kenya, who promoted empowerment and ecological conservation through the ‘Green Belt movement’, an NGO that turned the Kenyan ecological crisis into a mass reforestation project.

Maheshi fits the Tech Futures Lab mould well, with a rather squiggly line career path that’s likely to continue as she’s attracted to learning from and working with diverse groups across industry fields. She has a strong background in research plus she knows her way around co-design practices, Intellectual property and research commercialisation.

At Tech Futures Lab as Postgraduate Programme Lead, Maheshi is responsible for contributing to the quality, delivery and learning experience design of all postgraduate programmes including: Master of Technological Futures, Postgraduate Certificate in Human Potential for the Digital Economy & Postgraduate Certificate in Connected Environments. Master of Marine Conservation (Victoria University of Wellington)
